Understanding Market Prices
Understanding Market Prices
Making informed trading decisions starts with understanding what the numbers mean.
Price
The current price of one unit of the cryptocurrency in USD. This is what you'll pay when buying or receive when selling.
24h Change
The percentage change in price over the last 24 hours. A positive value (green) means the price went up; negative (red) means it went down.
Market Cap
Market capitalization = current price x total supply. It gives you a sense of the overall size and stability of a cryptocurrency:
• **Large cap** (>$10B) - More established, generally less volatile
• **Mid cap** ($1-10B) - Growth potential with moderate risk
• **Small cap** (<$1B) - Higher risk, higher potential reward
Tips for reading the market
• Don't chase pumps - a big 24h gain often corrects
• Look at market cap, not just price - a $0.01 coin isn't necessarily "cheap"
• Volume matters - more trading volume means more liquidity
• Set a strategy and stick to it
